Fee Information

Eastwood Eye Specialists is a private clinic that invests in the latest technology to deliver the highest level of eye care, and hence it is not a bulk billing practice. However, substantial discounts are provided for pensioner and concession card holders.

Specialist technology is used to deliver the highest level of eye care to Eastwood patients

  • Medicare rebates are available for consultation fees, relevant eye investigations and treatments provided at the clinic.
  • Payment of accounts is to be made on the day of the appointment.
  • We accept payment by EFTPOS, cheque, cash or credit card.
  • Fee estimates will be explained in advance whenever this is possible. Some patients may only incur the consultation fee, whilst more complex cases may require additional tests or treatments. These often cannot be predicted prior to the first visit as these are tailored to the specific needs of the individual patients. Regular patients can be provided with more certainty for their subsequent visits.
  • When elective eye surgery is required, we will give you a detailed estimate of the costs including the private hospital, anaesthetist and surgeon fees, as well as the relevant Medicare and/or private health fund rebates. Surgery will only proceed after we have ensured that you have a good understanding of the fees and an Informed Financial Consent has been obtained.
  • Dr John Chang is pleased to provide “No Gap” cataract surgery for his insured pensioner patients and "Known Gap" eye surgery for other patients with private health (hospital cover) insurance policy. This means that his patients will incur either zero or only a small, fixed (known) out of pocket cost for their cataract surgery.
